Weekly 'Math Minute'

Each week, the students are challenged to complete 10 maths problems. The ultimate goal is to complete all the questions in under a minute - some of the students are getting very close to achieving this feat!

Build a bridge and get over it!

This week, one of Room 7's reading groups read about some students who participated in a BP Technology Challenge. The challenge was to build the longest possible spaghetti bridge using 2 blocks, blu-tac and bag of spaghetti. The bridge also had to be able to support the weight of a small block. They gave it their best shot but ended up with a humongous pile of broken spaghetti!

Weightlessness/Zero Gravity in Space!

It was so fun 'blowing your minds' this morning with new learning around gravity, weightlessness and free fall. As promised, here's the video from the International Space Station (ISS). I've also posted a fascinating video on experiments with water at the ISS and one of some teachers having fun with ping pong balls on one of those free fall aeroplanes we were talking about.
 Have a top weekend :)

Journaling at its best!

Chemical Warfare Vs Phat Skinnis

Every few rounds of You Got to Know to Understand (a daily rote learning language activity), the students are given the option of taking or doubling their points by gambling them.

Today, the Chemical Warfare group Spokesperson chose to gamble their point by having a Lip Sync competition with the Phat Skinnis! This competition ended up in a draw though and points were split.
